Located in the region of Urubamba, the Sacred Valley was a source of food for the Incas because of its incredible ecological floors at different altitudes, and the reason it was considered sacred.
On this tour, you’ll visit the community of Chinchero, founded by the Inca Túpac Yupanqui, where he erected shrines, water channels, baths, platforms, huacas and the great royal palace in 1480;
Ollantaytambo (Ollanta’s inn) built by the Inca Pachacútec as a ceremonial center and home to the great General Ollantay – from whom it gets its name – and the popular love story about a forbiden love between a commoner and the daughter of The Inca – which triggered a 10yr long war – latter serving as a fort for the Inca Manco Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance during the days of the Spanish conquest; and Písac, one of the most important archaeological complexes in the valley, 30 kilometers from the city of Cusco, ending our trip at a superb local restaurant for a classic Peruvian lunch .
Make sure you double check with your guide about all departure times.
